The Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia, Western Australia (JMGA WA Inc.) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit membership organisation representing jewellery, metalsmithing and object practitioners throughout Western Australia. The organisation provides a professional and creative network for established and emerging practitioners working across contemporary jewellery and related craft disciplines.
JMGA WA works to promote, support and develop contemporary jewellery and metalsmithing by creating opportunities for communication, collaboration, professional development and the exchange of ideas. It also helps connect Western Australian practitioners with similar organisations and creative communities across Australia and internationally.
The organisation forms part of the broader Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia network, alongside affiliated state groups including Queensland and New South Wales. Collectively, these groups support the national contemporary jewellery community, with JMGA also providing the national forum for biennial conferences.
JMGA WA advocates for the recognition of jewellery and metalwork as significant contemporary art and craft forms. Its objectives include promoting members and their work, supporting exhibitions and industry initiatives, sharing information and publications, encouraging professional development and contributing to discussions on issues affecting jewellers and metalsmiths.
Through its membership, volunteer committee and industry connections, JMGA WA continues to strengthen Western Australia’s contemporary jewellery and metalsmithing community while supporting the visibility, development and advancement of the craft across Australia.
