The Queensland Boulder Opal Association (QBOA) is an industry organisation representing the interests of those involved in Queensland’s Boulder Opal sector. Its primary role is to advocate for legislative and regulatory settings that recognise the practical needs of the industry and support its long-term sustainability.
The association works with government departments, regulators and other industry stakeholders to help ensure that policies affecting Boulder Opal mining, production and related activities are appropriate and workable for the people operating within the sector.
A key focus of the QBOA is also the promotion of Queensland Boulder Opal, a rare and distinctive gemstone closely associated with the state’s mining regions. Through industry representation and promotion, the association helps raise awareness of Boulder Opal’s unique character, heritage and value within the Australian and international jewellery markets.
By providing a collective voice for the sector, the Queensland Boulder Opal Association supports the ongoing recognition and development of the industry while helping protect the interests of those who mine, produce and work with Queensland Boulder Opal.
