About Whitlock Sarah

Sarah Whitlock is an acclaimed Sydney-based contemporary jeweller renowned for handcrafted sterling silver jewellery that blends artistic expression, technical precision, and imaginative design. Working from her Flying Lobster Studio, a combined studio, workshop, and gallery established in 1995, Sarah creates distinctive pieces that celebrate both adornment and artistry.

Drawing inspiration from influential artists such as Erté and Gustav Klimt, alongside the rich decorative traditions of Central Asia, the Middle East, and East Asia, Sarah’s work is characterised by elegant curves, intricate detail, and a unique sense of storytelling. Her collections range from wearable jewellery including rings, earrings, necklaces, and brooches to ornamental objects such as trinket boxes, perfume bottles, clocks, and keepsake pieces crafted with exceptional creativity and craftsmanship.

A hallmark of Sarah’s work is the balance between meticulous design and creative spontaneity. Combining traditional silver smithing techniques with an intuitive approach to materials, she produces jewellery that is both sophisticated and deeply personal. She also creates one-of-a-kind pieces in collaboration with artist Judy Whitlock, incorporating finely etched miniature landscapes and botanical imagery.

Featured in leading publications including Vogue, Vogue Germany, Marie Claire, and Studio Brides, Sarah Whitlock’s jewellery is held in private collections throughout Australia and internationally. Her work continues to be celebrated for its originality, craftsmanship, and enduring artistic appeal.
