Custom jewellery design covers everything from concept to finished piece. Many jewellers can guide you through stone and metal options, then create made-to-order designs to suit your style and budget.

Blue Salt Jewellers is a private jewellery studio in Inverloch, Victoria, led by jeweller Joseph Courtenay. With a career in jewellery dating back to 1997, Joe brings an unusually broad background to his work, shaped by years spent not only at the bench but also in Australia’s pearling and opal industries.
Raised in Broome, Western Australia, Joe began his working life around the pearling fleets before completing a traditional five-year jewellery apprenticeship with Broome Pearls Pty Ltd. He later worked as a diver aboard Paspaley pearling vessels and spent time on remote pearl farms across northern Australia, developing first-hand knowledge of pearls from their origin in the ocean through to their use in fine jewellery.
His interest in Australian gemstones also took him to Lightning Ridge, where he personally descended into opal mines to source stones. Today, Blue Salt Jewellers maintains a partnership with a privately owned Lightning Ridge mine, giving Joe direct access to selected opals before they reach his workbench.
From his Inverloch boutique, Joe creates entirely handcrafted jewellery and works directly with clients on bespoke commissions. Each piece is shaped by a strong understanding of Australian pearls, opals and gemstones, with materials selected for their individual character and provenance.
Blue Salt Jewellers combines traditional hand craftsmanship with decades of industry experience, creating one-of-a-kind jewellery designed to carry a strong sense of place, story and personal meaning.

Custom jewellery design covers everything from concept to finished piece. Many jewellers can guide you through stone and metal options, then create made-to-order designs to suit your style and budget.
Gemstone sourcing helps you find the right stone based on cut, colour, clarity, size and budget. It's useful if you want something specific or want expert guidance comparing options before setting.
An online shop lets you browse and purchase remotely, often with delivery Australia-wide. Before buying, check sizing guidance, delivery timeframes, returns, warranties and aftercare.
Repairs can include resizing, clasp replacement, chain repairs, polishing, re-stringing and stone re-setting. Ask about turnaround time and whether repair work comes with a service warranty.
In-store shopping is ideal if you want to see pieces in person and compare options with guidance. Many jewellers can advise on fit, styling, care, and gift ideas while you browse.
Jewellery valuations provide written documentation for insurance, resale or estate purposes. A valuation records materials, gemstone details, condition and an assessed value using current market factors.
Share what stood out, from service and pricing to the finished piece. A quick review helps the next shopper know what to expect.
