About Suzi Zutic Jewels | Mitcham
Suzi Zutic is a Melbourne jeweller and certified gemmologist whose work combines fine craftsmanship, strong colour and an unusually broad design background. Before focusing on jewellery, Suzi trained in interior design, later completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Gold and Silversmithing with distinction at RMIT. She subsequently undertook formal gemmological and diamond studies, including a Certificate IV in Gemmological Studies with distinction through the Gemmological Association of Australia and Diamond Essentials through the Gemological Institute of America.
That combination of design and gem knowledge is visible in jewellery that is often expressive, intricate and centred on distinctive stones. Suzi works with precious metals and a wide range of gemstones, using techniques that can include lost-wax casting, enamelling, engraving, stone setting and gem faceting. Her work draws on historical jewellery, religious and royal ornament, geometric forms and the character of individual gemstones, rather than following a single commercial style.
Bespoke commissions allow clients to work directly with Suzi on one-off pieces. A gemstone may become the starting point for a design, or the process may begin with an idea, occasion or personal story. Her qualifications also give her a technical understanding of gemstone quality and suitability alongside the creative design process.
Suzi’s jewellery has been shown internationally and stocked by galleries in Australia and New Zealand. Her current Melbourne studio is in the Nicholas Building in the CBD, where she continues to create handcrafted work for clients seeking jewellery with a strong artistic identity and a high level of material detail.
