How very disappointed I am. While on holiday I purchased black freshwater pearl stud earrings from Paul Armstrong House of Pearls. On the first wearing, I noticed how loose the keeper was but I overlooked that as I was happy to buy new keepers if needed.nnThe first disappointment came when after only 4 wears, the pearl fell off the setting. I attempted to telephone the store several times but did not get an answer. I left a message and the next day I received a return call from Lisa who said she was Paul's partner/wife.nnI explained what had happened and requested a refund. Lisa apologised and offered me replacement earrings of better quality at no extra charge or a refund whichever I preferred. It was clear to me from discussions that Lisa was representing the business and I advised that I preferred a refund. I live in regional Victoria and did not really want to deal with any further potential issues long distance. I was assured that this was not a problem. I express posted the earrings back to Darwin on the very next business day which happened to be a Monday.nnA week passes and I receive a parcel in the mail from Paul Armstrong - 2 sets of pearl earrings. I telephoned and spoke with Paul who advised that it was not their policy to provide refunds unless the product could not be repaired. I told Paul of the conversation I had with Lisa who assured me that a refund would be given.nnPaul then advised that Lisa was not part of the business and not authorised to offer refunds. Why then did Lisa initiate the telephone call to me representing Paul Armstrong/House of Pearls. Is this a scam? How often has this happened? I dealt in good faith with an individual who was acting with apparent authority of the business, with the owner now trying to deny any such authority existed. Appalling business practice.
