About Mayben Artisan Jeweller
Mayben Artisan Jeweller is a working jewellery studio in Moonah led by Tasmanian jeweller Shauna Mayben. Her studio practice has developed over nearly two decades around bespoke jewellery, repair, remodelling and hands-on teaching, making Mayben as much a place for learning the craft as it is for commissioning a finished piece.
Custom work includes engagement rings, wedding bands and other one-off jewellery created around a client’s ideas and materials. Private consultations are offered by appointment, giving customers time to discuss repairs, remodelling, design possibilities and quotations directly with the jeweller. The studio’s approach is particularly relevant when a piece has personal meaning or when the customer wants to be involved closely in how a design develops.
Mayben also runs jewellery-making experiences and education. Intensive courses cover foundational skills such as casting, sawing, filing, soldering, chain making, stone setting and finishing. Studio hire and private tuition are available for people wanting more focused technical support. Couples can also book a make-your-own wedding-ring experience, learning to bend, solder, file, buff and polish their own bands with guidance from the studio.
Shauna’s work draws on Tasmanian materials as well as gemstones collected from around the world, giving the studio a strong local craft identity.
For Hobart-area customers, Mayben offers an unusually direct jewellery experience: bespoke commissions, repairs and remakes sit alongside practical teaching, allowing people either to have a piece made for them or learn more about the processes involved in making jewellery themselves.
