About Jewells Of Hawthorn

Jewels of Hawthorn is a father-and-daughter jewellery business with a trade history that stretches far beyond its Hawthorn storefront. The family’s master jeweller began learning the craft at around ten years of age from Armenian jewellers in Turkey. By fifteen he had opened a small business in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, making solid-gold watch cases and straps before fitting watch movements and selling the finished pieces. He later moved to Australia in his early twenties and went on to operate a jewellery manufacturing business for approximately 25 years.

After decades on the manufacturing side of the trade, he moved into retail with his daughter Seta. The pair established Jewels of Hawthorn in 2003 and have continued to serve customers in the area with a combination of jewellery sales and onsite trade services. The business has since moved within Hawthorn and now operates from the Lido Arcade.

Repairs remain a major part of the offering. Services published by the business include jewellery and watch repairs, ring resizing, pearl threading, cleaning, rhodium plating, insurance valuations, remodelling, design and manufacture. Having an experienced jeweller onsite means many customers can discuss the work directly with the person responsible for assessing or completing it.

For local customers, Jewels of Hawthorn brings together two sides of the jewellery trade: a retail range for gifts and personal purchases, and the technical workshop skills needed to maintain, restore or redesign existing pieces. Its identity is closely tied to the family’s long jewellery-making background and the continuity of traditional bench skills across countries and generations.
