About FIND Contemporary Jewellery Collective

FIND Contemporary Jewellery Collective is an artist-run jewellery gallery in Hobart’s Salamanca Arts Centre, established in 2002. Rather than operating as a conventional single-brand store, FIND is a co-operative run and staffed by its member jewellers, giving visitors direct access to a changing range of locally made contemporary jewellery and the artists who create it.

The collective represents a group of Tasmanian designer-makers, each with a distinct style and approach to materials. The gallery’s range can include precious metals and gemstones alongside less conventional materials, with rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and small wearable artworks spanning accessible everyday pieces through to more substantial heirloom-quality work. Much of the jewellery reflects Tasmania’s landscape, environment and creative culture.

FIND has operated continuously since its establishment and has retained founding members alongside newer participants. The co-operative structure makes the gallery both a sales space and a place for collaboration, shared learning and support between jewellers.

Supporting emerging makers is also an important part of the collective’s history. FIND has run mentorship initiatives, youth jewellery activities, student bursaries and an Emerging Jewellers Program that provides early-career makers with an opportunity to sell through the gallery without standard rental costs for a period.

For customers visiting Salamanca, FIND offers a direct way to support Tasmanian jewellery makers and explore work that is locally designed and handmade. Its strength lies in diversity: multiple independent artists presented together within one long-running, member-operated creative space.
