About Collins Jewellers

Collins Jewellers is a Tasmanian-owned Hobart jewellery business combining retail, bespoke design and workshop services. Darryl and Dianna Hyland took ownership in 2019 and have continued the store with a strong focus on craftsmanship, personal service and jewellery that can be worn and passed on for many years.

Jewellery making is part of Darryl Hyland’s family history. He is a third-generation jeweller with more than 40 years of industry experience. His grandfather, Edgar Hyland, operated a watchmaking and jewellery business in Moonah, while his father also trained and worked as a jeweller in Hobart. That background gives Collins a practical workshop perspective as well as a retail one.

The business creates bespoke jewellery for engagements, anniversaries and other milestones, while also carrying a selection of finished jewellery and watches. Repairs, restoration and remodelling are important parts of the service. Customers can bring in worn, damaged or inherited jewellery to have it assessed, repaired or reworked into a new design while retaining the original piece’s sentimental value.
