Called yesterday and explained that I was gifted a necklace from a friend and the chain immediately broke as I was trying it on. My friend no longer had the receipt but I didnu2019t mind as I was willing to pay for any repairs. The lovely lady on the phone said that it was no problem and to bring the necklace in and theyu2019ll take a look at the chain for me. She said that if it was an easy fix they can do it right there in store. She said if the damage was more extensive that they might have to send it their head office and we would need a receipt for that. She said I could bring it in any day and I may not even have to pay for the repairs because it sounded like a manufacturing defect. Today I drove over 50 minutes from the Adelaide hills, came in store, and was immediately told that they canu2019t do anything without a receipt. The lady at the counter was very nice (hence two stars, had to give an extra star for her service) but didnu2019t even look at the chain. Just told me there was nothing they could do. Quite disapointed as no chain should break just from being placed around my neck. I understand that you canu2019t do anything without a receipt (totally understandable) but why was I not told this over the phone? Why is there mixed information? Why make me drive over an hour and a half in total just to be turned away without a second glance?

Terrible reviews for a reason people. Avoid this pathetic retailer.nMy wife was given a proud gold bracelet for our wedding. Within a month the clasp broke.nWe went back to Prouds a Janet (should be Karen!) refused to send it away for repair under warranty because we did not have the receipt.nShe advised us to take it to a jeweller that soldered because they don't.nI asked for a card with their head office number and she just advised me to google it.nAvoid Prouds at all costs.
