Do you still remember the first time you finally decided to walk into a jewellery boutique to search the perfect engagement ring?
As a person who got proposed to, I can’t say I have such experience but I do know how it feels like when you find the person is the right one but not the perfect engagement ring. Honestly, it’s not a big deal, not at all, but when you would rather say “I do” without seeing the perfect engagement ring that doesn’t tick the box, it is kind of becoming a deal. At least you are hoping your life partner knows that little sparkle part of you.
As a gemologist and jewellery designer, I come across too many clueless faces when they get asked: “what exactly are you looking for?”
It’s funny how this phenomenon never gets old.
I am not here to lecture how you should find the perfect engagement ring, you have already found the gem of your life, so no need to make it more complicated when it comes to the ring. All I have to say is the following:
“Be flexible and don’t corner yourself. Do not break the bank to get the perfect engagement ring, just get the best within your budget.”
Research is for sure a must-do, and go get it yourself not with her girlfriends, family member or mates.
Let’s be frank, an engagement ring is a pretty pricy, non-practical, unnecessary and some time stupidly impulsive purchase, it will cost a big chunk of your savings.
But man, it’s a deeply loved invention, and you can’t avoid it if you want to spend your life with the “one”. So when you have done the basic research on rings, pay some attention in the little things in life when you’re together, it will not be difficult to figure out the style.

No stress if you can’t afford a diamond, get other gems, there are so many colourful and colourless gems around for you to add the sparkle to the finger, and pretty certain there is one for you!
And its definitely much easier to make the choice by yourself rather than going with the whole consulting team. Remember, confidence is all you need. So often I saw clients get nervous about choosing just because the various opinions around from others mess up the mind.
“trust your love is more than just the ring. It’s not the end but just the beginning.”
As long as the style matches, you will get the “I DO”. Plus, you can always upgrade it after years of happiness, will be worth it and add a little fun too. Trust me, I have seen a lot of that happening nowadays, not many are wearing the same engagement ring the whole life, but still enjoy the same companionship.
So people, just make the decision, choose the ring, spend some savings, you will earn it back, and move on your life and enjoy it!
xx
